Very cozy community focused coffee shop. Set back off the street in an old auto shop the space is very unique and has a huge patio out front. Staff were very friendly and the coffee and food was great as well. Drip coffee had a nice robust flavor and both sandwiches and pastry we got were very good. Beyond that the space hosts community events for artists and families like movie nights & book readings. If we lived closer this would definitely be a regular drop in.

Great place to go. Food, coffee and drinks top tier. Owners and staff are wonderful. They promote local and black owned. Art work displayed and for sale. Indoor and outdoor seating!

What a hidden Gem! I work in Chicago near midway and always looking for a good spot for breakfast and coffee. This place has it all. Very good coffee, very cool staff and a great atmosphere to enjoy a tasty breakfast and coffee. I had a drip and a cold brew to go. Both were good, I particularly enjoyed the cold brew. Very smooth with light notes of chocolate. They have outdoor seating as well in warm weather with a nice area for dogs. I was told there is also live music as well. Come out and support your local businesses and avoid chains. I highly recommend this place! It’s better than Latte Larry’s and Mocha Joe’s!

My family and I loved every bit of our experience today. The live music was awesome, delicious food & drinks, super positive vibes and excellent customer service. We will most definitely be back! Afro Joe’s staff gave us a warm welcome. Their menu has a nice variety of tasty coffee, pastry & food to get your day started. My Mum had the Vincennes Veggie Wrap. My Daughter had the Bronzeville Breakfast Sandwich. The excitement I felt when I saw the Big ‘Ol Breakfast Burrito on the menu is shameful lol I had been craving a breakfast burrito for a while now and theirs did not disappoint. It was delicious! We all shared the cherry cheese danish and it was so good. I’m glad we were finally able to checkout this Beverly treasure!

Dropped by here with my husband and our baby on the way back from a Chicago trip because of the good reviews. Food and drinks were great, and the staff was super nice. Happy also that this is a family-friendly location. They had a changing pad for my baby in the bathroom, and nobody seemed to mind me breastfeeding in the corner while I ate. Wasn't sure if I was intruding as one of the only non-Black customers there at that particular time but nobody seemed to care.

This cafe has some of the best vibes of any in the city. The list really does go on forever, good music, the sound of laughter as you approach, kind and considerate owners who go out of their way to ensure everyone is feeling welcome, delicious coffee, tasty treats and meals, plenty of folks working in the sunshine or in the privacy of the back, and a community board for everyone to put their thoughts together. Come here any time, frankly for any reason you can find. you’ll enjoy it i promise

My first of many visits A building that has been repurposed to offer quality coffee, an artful atmosphere, and tasty sandwiches at a fair price. They even have an area for the little ones to enjoy the space very neatly woven into the seating area, which I find to be a nice touch. Plus all the art on the wall is for sale definitely will be spreading the word.
